Kappa Delta Pi is an International Honor Society in Education. It was founded in 1911 by Dr. William Bagley at the University of Illinois. The founders chose the name from the Greek letters Kappa Delta Pi to represent KNOWLEDGE, DUTY, and POWER. The mission of Kappa Delta Pi is to sustain an honored community of diverse educators by promoting excellence and advancing scholarship, leadership, and service.

Eligibility requirements for the Kappa Delta Pi at Rutgers University, Newark are:

  • 3.0 Cumulative grade point average currently at Rutgers Newark
  • Earn a B (or higher) letter grade in education courses
  • Complete 5 hours of community service
  • Complete 5 hours of professional development
  • Major or minor in DUE programs
